1 Hallelujah!
For good it is to hymn to God,
for pleasing and proper is praise!
2 Yahweh builds up Jerusalem,
Israel’s outcasts He gathers.
3 He heals the broken-hearted
and bandages all their wounds.
4 He tallies the count of the stars,
to all of them names He does give.
5 Great is our Master and so full of power,
His understanding is uncountable.
6 Yahweh stands the lowly upright,
casts down the wicked to the ground.
7 Sing out thanksgiving to Yahweh,
and hymn to our God on the lyre:
8 He blankets the skies with cloud-covers,
He prepares for the land its rain,
He makes the hills blossom with grass.
9 He gives to the beast its bread,
to the raven’s young who cry out.
10 No horse’s might does He enjoy,
nor with men’s legs is He pleased.
11 Yahweh is pleased with His fearers,
with those who hope in His loyal love.
12 Glory, Jerusalem, in Yahweh,
celebrate Your God, Zion!
13 For He bolstered the bars of your gates,
and He blessed your sons in your midst.
14 He borders you with profound peace,
with richest wheat He sates you.
15 He sends forth His utterance to earth,
with celerity runs His word.
16 He gives out snowfall like sheep’s wool,
cold-frost like coal-dust He scatters.
17 He flings His icicles like blades!
Before His coldness who can stand?
18 He gives the word and they melt,
His breath blows — waters flow forth.
19 He reveals His word to Jacob,
His decree and His rulings to Israel.
20 He has not done so for other nations,
and His rulings they have not known.
Hallelujah!
